Motherboard:

Motherboard Name Hewlett-Packard Pavilion ZV6000 (PX343UA#ABA)
Motherboard Chipset ATI Radeon Xpress 200M, AMD Hammer
System Memory 512 MB (PC2700 DDR SDRAM)
BIOS Type Phoenix (03/22/05)

Display:

and this is the HP drivers  http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=461825&lang=en

the audio won't load it says missing a setup.exe, tried the update method, and still won't install

the ATI SB400 rings a bell, but can't for the life of me remember why.

traced link to ATI river with this link http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

any insight would be much appreciated, what I'm wondering is if HP have linked the wrong driver, and it should be High definition, it's happened before.

If I'm reading this correctly, the driver you need should be the one under the notebook downloads:

http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/ProductInformation/0,,30_118_1260_14688%255e12474,00.html?redir=COGA03

 > "Mobile AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor Driver for Windows XP" listed part way down the page.

Anything is possible. I have recently done computers that use this chipset, and yes they do run extremely hot.

Try unistalling the sound from add and remove programs and/ordevice manager before you try installing new drivers.
Its also possible a full system recovery or reformat may fix the sound with alot less hfoolle.
